Rediff.com Homepages SERVICES & CONDITIONS OF USE
Price and Payment
Rediff.com Homepages Services are available free of charge, exclusive of other Internet or other telecommunications fee.
I) Member Terms of Service
- Membership is available to anyone who registers all required information, provides an accurate, legitimate electronic mail address, and obtains a unique Nickname and password.
- Rediff.com does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race, religion, caste, class, lifestyle preference, or nationality.
- Rediff.com allows one registered Membership per legitimate electronic mail address. Rediff.com must approve any exceptions, including the use of one electronic mail address by multiple users.
- Membership is non-transferable.
II) Personal Homepage Guidelines
- Members are solely responsible for everything contained in their own homepages.
- Rediff.com does not review the contents of a home page in any way before they appear on the Member area of the site.
- Rediff.com does not verify, endorse or otherwise vouch for the contents of any homepage.
- Rediff.com allows for business related homepages but does not necessarily endorse or support (financially or otherwise) the type of business it is or the product or service being promoted through any business-related homepage.
- Members can be held legally liable for the contents of their personal home pages and may be held legally accountable if their home pages include, for example, defamatory comments or material protected by copyright, trademark, patent or trade secret law without the permission of the author or owner.
- The member agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Rediff.com for any loss, liability, claim, damage, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or in connection with the contents of the member's personal home page.
III) Rules for Online Conduct
The following is a non-exclusive list of actions and content that are not permitted on Rediff Personal Homepages:
- Material that is an expression of bigotry, racism, or hatred based on age, gender, race, religion, caste, class, lifestyle preference, and nationality.
- Material that defames, abuses, or threatens others.
- Material that advocates illegal activity
- Material that contains obscene content
IV) Privacy
All information provided by a Member is strictly confidential. Rediff.com reserves the right to distribute information provided by Members, but will never release the name or other personal information about a Member without the prior permission of that Member.
V) Copyrighted Material
- Any material protected by trademark, service mark, patent or copyright registration may not be placed on the Site or the Membership area without the express permission of the author or owner of the copyright on that material.
- In the event that Rediff.com receives a complaint that the contents of a personal home page infringe intellectual property rights or are otherwise unlawful, Rediff.com shall request written substantiation of the complaint from the complaining party. As such, Rediff.com will require substantiation of proof of ownership in the form of a trademark, service mark, patent or copyright registration and will take such steps that it believes to be appropriate under the circumstances.
VI) Termination of Service
- Rediff.com reserves the right to terminate Membership and any and all information, communications, Postings, or Homepages at any time, without notice, for conduct that violates these conditions and guidelines set out by Rediff.com.
- Rediff.com may also terminate Membership and delete any and all information, communications, Postings, or Homepages for online conduct that Rediff.com deems is harmful to other Members, the business of Rediff.com or other third-party information providers.
VII) Rediff.com also reserves the following rights:
- To release current or past member information that Rediff.com believes is in violation of the terms of service or page content guidelines, or used to commit unlawful acts, or if the information is subpoenaed, and/or if Rediff.com deems it necessary and/or appropriate.
- Rediff.com provides this service with the best possible intentions and is not liable for any unforeseen event such as interruptions, failures, delays in the delivery of content or services available within the Membership area
- Rediff.com is not liable for any losses or damages arising from the use of the content or services provided by Rediff.com.
- To deny membership to offenders of these guidelines or terms of service;
- To amend or change these guidelines at any time and without notice;
- To use images of homesteader pages for promotional and other commercial purposes.
