Q. While viewing my page images take a long time to appear on the screen.
Ideally the size of the image file should be 10 Kilobytes or less. If the filesize is large it will take more time to load. Therefore the smaller the image file size the faster the images will appear on the screen.

Q. My image is not displayed properly, it appears blurred and distorted.
This usually happens when a large image (ie. large in height and width) is squeezed into a small area of your homepage. Due to the compression in dimension the image appears distorted. For our homepage templates the ideal size is 142 pixels in width and 95 pixels in height (appr. 2 inches in width and 1.5 inches in height).

Q. How do i resize images?
There are many good image editors available such as LView, Paintshop and Ulead. On the higher end there is Photoshop which is arguably one of the best tools for any image work. Generally resizing images is a simple task and can be done by any general image editor.

Q. Is there some website where I can download images for free?
Free visuals and images abound on the Net. And many generous designers give it all away for free. So all you need to do is go to these sites, click on the images you want to borrow and use it in your own. However, remember, the heavier the images, the more time will it take to download your page. So try and keep them small and relevant.

Q. What type of image files can i use on my page?
On the web the most common types of image files are .gifs and .jpegs. Since these files have an excellent compression ratio (which means they are small in weightage) they are ideally used. The most important thing to remember about images on the net is that they should be very light ie. the size of the image file should ideally not exceed 10 Kb. Otherwise the image will take forever to load on your page resulting in some very annoyed visitors.

Q. Can i use a bmp file (Bitmap Image File) in my homepage?
No, you cannot use bmp files on your webpage for the simple reason that bmp file are huge in size and are not suited to the internet. Always convert a bmp file into a gif or jpeg before using the image on the net.
